Why Your Business Should Install Google Analytics on Your Website

Why Your Business Should Install Google Analytics on Your Website

If you have a website for your business, you really should have Google Analytics installed. There are a host of reasons this free tool is helpful for small businesses. It provides valuable insights into how people are reading and using your website. This kind of information can help you improve your online strategy to get more customers.

We identified just four compelling reasons every small business should use Google Analytics (no matter how “computer illiterate” you might feel).

1) It tells you where your traffic comes from

Google Analytics reveals where the people visiting your website are coming from. This information can help you improve your online content and better optimize your design. These adjustments will help you generate more leads. It can also help you determine the success of different marketing campaigns.

For example, if you run a Facebook ad campaign and notice a 20% increase in the number of visitors to your website from Facebook, that means your campaign was successful.

2) Helps you identify your best web pages

Google Analytics will tell you which pages your visitors use the most and where they spend the most time. Knowing this information will enable you to make improvements elsewhere and provide more of what your audience wants. Make improvements to the pages on your website that receive the most traffic to get more conversions.

To find the data about which pages are generating the most traffic, go to the Behavior tab in the Site Content section of your Google Analytics.

3) Learn what search terms people use to find your site

It’s helpful to know what people search on Google or other search engines to find your website. Google Analytics allows you to see what keywords are drawing in traffic.

For example, if you own a bank, you might not rank very high for terms like “local bank” or “checking account.” Still, you might be very visible and get traffic for search terms like “small business loan” or “banking for small business.”

4) Learn what kind of content you should create

Blogs, infographics, and other content add value to your website. When you identify the most popular content on your site that receives the most views or shares, you will be able to create more content your audience wants.

For example, if your bank’s website receives a lot of traffic to a blog post about small business loans, you should create more content on related topics that small business owners want to read. It also indicates that many of the people who visit your website are probably small business owners, and you should highlight services that pertain to them.

5) It’s free

There aren’t many things in business that are free, but this is the exception. Google Analytics is a free resource that you can install on any website. Why would you NOT take advantage of this resource?

There are plenty of other reasons small businesses should install (and use) Google Analytics. There are also many resources to help you interpret the data you receive. It’s worth your valuable time, energy, and resources to use Google Analytics to improve your website’s performance.
